Yields: 12 Servings Difficulty: Easy Prep Time: 1 Hr Cook Time: 30 Mins Total Time: 1 Hr 30 Mins

Welcome back to another lactose free recipe. This recipe continuous the best part of the year, spooky season. There is nothing better than a big slice of chocolate brownie, especially when it is decorated with creepy spiderwebs made from marshmallows. The spider webs look quite impressive, but you will be surprised at just how easy it is to do. Better yet they can be used on anything from cakes to sweet breads.

This recipe comes from the World of Warcraft cooking book just tweaked a slight bit. It is a fantastic book if you are a lover of WoW, I highly recommend it.

    Chocolate Brownie
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C and grease a standard brownie tin.
  • Place the margarine and cocoa powder in a saucepan.
  • Place on medium heat until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  • Remove from the heat and add the vanilla, sugar and eggs. Stir well until completely smooth.
  • Add the flour, salt, and baking powder to this mixture. Stir until completely smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared brownie pan.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Insert a skewer or knife into the centre of the brownie to test whether the brownie is done. When the skewer comes out clean the brownie is cooked. Place the brownie tin onto a cooling rack. Leave to cool down completely.
  • Chocolate Glaze
  • In a small saucepan melt the margarine.
  • Add the cocoa powder and milk. Stir well.
  • Add the icing sugar and mix until completely smooth.
  • Pour the glaze onto the brownie and spread all over. Place in the fridge for an hour or two until set.
  • Marshmallow Spiderwebs
  • Moving onto the spiderwebs. Before you start a word of warning. Be careful when the marshmallows are melted, they will be very hot and very sticky when they are first out of the microwave. They need to be cooled down before it is safe to handle. The mixture is also quite sticky however warm water will wash off any marshmallow. The marshmallows will disappear over time so make sure you decorate it quite closely to when you want to serve them.
  • Place a handful of the marshmallows into a microwave safe container. Microwave for 20 seconds. Take the container out and stir.
  • The marshmallows should be smooth. If they are not put them back in the microwave for 10 seconds.
  • Wait several seconds for the marshmallows to cool down to the point you can touch them safely.
  • Grab a handful of the marshmallow and manipulate with your fingers until the mixture becomes slightly stiff.
  • Gently spread your fingers and hands apart. This should form web like structures between them.
  • Keep moving your fingers apart until the webs becomes the desired shape.
  • Spread the marshmallow webs over the brownies.
  • Keep doing this process until the brownie is covered in marshmallow webs.
  • Slice, serve, devour, and enjoy. Thank you for reading my recipe.
