  • Place the flour in a large bowl. Add the yeast, salt, sugar and dried herbs. Mix well.
  • Add the water and oil. Mix until a rough dough forms.
  • Place dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and springy when touched.
  • Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with cling wrap. Leave in a warm draught free place for an hour.
  • In a small bowl add the margarine, chives, dill and garlic. Stir to combine.
  • Grease the round baking tray as well as the outside of the ramekin. Place the ramekin into the center of the tray.
  • Preheat your oven to 170°C.
  • Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Press down to flatten and release the air inside. Roll the dough into small balls. Continue until all the dough has been rolled.
  • Gently dip a dough ball into the margarine mixture to coat. Place the dough ball just touching the ramekin. Continue this process until you have surrounded the ramekin with herb dough balls. Don’t press them too tight together as they will rise in the oven.
  • Keep dipping and placing dough balls around the edge until all the dough has been used up and a wreath has been formed.
  • If you have extra herb mixture left, you can spoon it onto the dough.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Carefully take the ramekin out. Bake for another 15 to 20 minutes. Oven time will depend. Keep an eye on the bread so it doesn’t over cook, watch for a lovely golden brown color.
  • Wait for the bread to cool down completely. Place another clean ramekin in the center of the bread. Add whatever dip you want to the ramekin. I served mine with lactose free sweet chilli cream cheese.
  • Serve and enjoy. Happy holidays.
